DisplayNet Server
Overview
DisplayNet systems consist of multiple transmitter and receiver endpoints, a 10GbE network switch and the DisplayNet Server®, which provides the interface layer required to control and manage the entire system. The server runs the DisplayNet API Engine service, enabling clients with a network connection to the server to control the system. Using the DisplayNet Server® (Model no. DNS-30), systems can be managed using several control methods, which enables the technology to be seamlessly integrated into a variety of application workflows. The DisplayNet Server® provides a central interface between the control equipment/software and the DisplayNet endpoint devices and is a required component of every DisplayNet system.
The DNS-30 DisplayNet Server is a Small Form Factor (SFF) embedded Linux server and the successor to the former DNS-20. It delivers up to 2-3 times the compute throughput of its predecessor on common platform workloads, while drawing less power and running cooler and quieter, making it well-suited to tightly-packed racks and lights-down control rooms. The unit retains the same install footprint as the DNS-20, fits in a 1U rack space, occupies less than a half-rack width, and includes rack mount hardware.
The DisplayNet API Engine, DisplayNet Manager®, and DisplayNet Controller are all pre-installed on the server. DisplayNet Manager is a web-based software application for system setup and configuration, including tools to route signals, configure device settings, build Video Wall configurations, build MultiViewer layouts, perform EDID Management, generate and save scripts and presets, and view and test DisplayNet API commands. DisplayNet Controller is the streamlined operator interface, covering preset recall, routing, walls, and live monitoring for day-to-day operation. Both applications share a unified landing page and single sign-on.
The DNS-30 also includes DisplayNet® Connect for AI Agents, a secure MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that exposes the DisplayNet platform to AI tools such as Claude. Operators can describe what they want in plain English (for example: "route the keynote feed to the lobby wall," "build a 3x3 multiview of the source cameras"), and DisplayNet Connect translates intent into the right sequence of platform commands, authenticated with the same credentials operators already use. DisplayNet Connect is opt-in and exposes no operations beyond what an authenticated operator can already perform.
Both DisplayNet Manager and the DisplayNet API include rapid application deployment features that are designed to facilitate the use of third-party control systems. These features enable DisplayNet to be easily integrated into a wide range of professional AV applications and workflows.

Note 1: Only a single DisplayNet Server should be actively used in a system at a given time. However, it is possible to run backup DisplayNet Servers, provided they are only used for monitoring the system and do not issue commands. Please contact DVIGear technical support for full details.
Note 2: An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is highly recommended for the DisplayNet Server and should be considered as part of any system.
Note 3: DNS-30 is a drop-in replacement for DNS-20 at the same install footprint. Existing devices, presets, walls, and user accounts carry forward without migration.
